Media reports state that France’s only pair of pandas, Huan Huan and Yuan Zi, departed from the Beauval Zoo for China on the morning of November 25, 2025.
The couple was slated to stay in France until January 2027, but they returned early after Huan Huan was diagnosed with kidney failure.
Their firstborn son, Yuan Meng, returned to China in 2023. Their twin cubs, Huan Li Li and Yuan Du Du (born 2021), will stay at the zoo. The zoo also hopes to continue its partnership with China past 2027. (Huan Huan, Yuan Zi )
