According to the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, the Japanese-born giant panda twins Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei arrived safely in Chengdu, Sichuan, China in the early hours of January 28, 2026.
To ensure the safe and smooth repatriation of the two pandas, Chinese authorities dispatched experienced veterinary experts to Japan in advance. The experts familiarized themselves with the twins’ living habits and feeding conditions, conducted behavioral training, routine physical examinations and health assessments, and accompanied the cubs back to China on the same flight with Japanese panda keepers.
