Female giant panda Bao Mei was born on August 8, 2019, along with her twin brother, Bao Di, at Pairi Daiza Zoo in Belgium. Her parents are giant pandas Xing Hui and Hao Hao.
On November 14, 2019, the twin pandas born in Belgium were officially named “Bao Di” and “Bao Mei,” meaning the brother and sister of the first giant panda born in Belgium, “Tian Bao.”
On December 11, 2024, the twin pandas “Bao Di” and “Bao Mei” returned to China with their brother Tian Bao. They currently reside at the Bifengxia Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Ya’an, Sichuan Province.
