Dan Dan (Chinese name: Shuang Shuang) was born on September 16, 1995, at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. She arrived at Kobe Oji Zoo in Japan on July 16, 2000, and over the next 24 years, she brought courage and hope to many Kobe residents who were affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
