According to comprehensive reports, giant panda couple Huan Huan and Yuan Zi, who have been living in France, were originally scheduled to stay there until January 2027. However, Huan Huan was diagnosed with renal failure, so the pair returned to China ahead of schedule at the end of November 2025. After over a month of quarantine, Yuan Zi—the panda father back from France—officially went on display at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on January 5, 2026.
Previously, Yuan Meng, the eldest son of Huanhuan and Yuan Zi, had already returned to China in 2023. Their twin cubs, Huan Li Li and Yuan Du Du, born in 2021, will continue to reside at Beauval Zoo. (YuanZi)
